Paddle Size Testing

The paddle length cannot exceed 17.0 inches. The length measurement will include any edge guard and the butt cap. The combined length and width of the paddle will not exceed 24.0 inches. The width measurement will include any edge guard.

Roughness Measurement

Both sides of the paddle’s surface will be tested in in the roughest location, as determined by the laboratory technician through inspection. Roughness measurements will be performed across the six directions (1: down direction, 2: up direction, 3: right direction, 4: left direction, 5: upper right direction and 6: lower left direction).The allowable limits for roughness will be no greater than 40 micrometers on the Average.

Reflection Test

The test should be chosen 3 locations located anywhere across the surface of the paddle. At the universal angle of 60 degrees. The highest paddle gloss ≤ 80 GU.

COF Fixture Test

To test 2 samples for this test. The kinetic coefficient of friction is ≤ 0.1875. All testing will be performed in the approximate center of the paddle, with respect to the left and right edges. If the paddle surface is non-uniform or has other features which may increase the kinetic friction, the technician will perform the testing in this location.

Paddle Deflection Test

Position the paddle head on parallel blocks. The center of the paddle should be centered between the parallel blocks. The tip will be lowered towards the paddle at a rate of 0.1 – inches/min until a preload of 5.0-lbs is achieved. The average paddle deflection ≤ 0.005 inches.
